Hegra (Madain Saleh) UNESCO World Heritage Site

Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant archaeological sites in the Middle East. Hegra was the southern capital of the Nabataean Kingdom, the same civilization that built Petra in Jordan. Over 100 monumental rock-cut tomb facades are carved into sandstone outcrops across the site. The tombs date from the 1st century BC to the 2nd century AD. Elephant Rock (Jabal AlFil)

Al Ula Old Town

A 900-year-old mudbrick settlement that once housed over 900 homes, a busy market, and 14 defensive gates on the ancient pilgrimage route from Damascus to Makkah. Occupied continuously from the 12th century until the 1980s, when residents relocated to modern Al Ula, the Old Town now stands as a preserved heritage site. The 45-metre fort overlooking the town dates to around the 10th century. Narrow lanes wind through mud-brick houses, past ancient shops, and into open courtyards. A moving and surprisingly intimate place.

Dadan Archaeological Site

The ancient capital of the Dadan and Lihyanite kingdoms, which thrived between the 9th and 2nd centuries BC on the incense trading routes. Famous for its distinctive lion sculptures carved into the cliffside, believed to be associated with religious rituals. A UNESCO nomination site. Best visited as part of a full-day layover tour.

Jabal Ikmah

Described as an open-air library, Jabal Ikmah is a canyon canyon with one of the highest concentrations of pre-Islamic rock inscriptions in Arabia. Inscriptions are in Dadanitic, Minaic, Nabataean, Aramaic, and Greek scripts, with texts ranging from dedications to deities to ancient traveler graffiti. Maraya Concert Hall

The largest mirrored building on Earth, recognized by the Guinness World Records.
